Join us for a professional development event designed to help you support children birth to three years old who have special needs. This event is funded by the Maryland State Department of Education. Thanks to this funding, the registration fee for this event is only $5.

This professional development series consists of one 3-hour training session, and two 1-hour follow up technical assistance sessions. The series is designed to encourage in-depth learning that supports each participant’s ability to implement strategies and techniques that support infants and toddlers with special needs.

 In order to receive a certificate of completion for core of knowledge hours, providers MUST attend the entire series, including all 3 parts.


Part 1: February 23, 2022 (6:30 pm-9:30 pm)

During this training, participants will learn strategies and “fun” activities to assist preschool and school aged children in exploring their feelings for the purpose of promoting Emotional Intelligence. Participants will learn about the connection between Multiple Intelligences and Emotional Intelligence. Participants will explore sample “feeling stations,” and learn about potential “red flag” behaviors in children that may need to be addressed by a mental health professional.

Core of Knowledge Area for Part 1: Child Development (1.5 hours) and Special Needs (1.5 hours)

Part 2: March 9, 2022 – 6:30pm-7:30pm

Review content from Part 1 and discuss application in early childhood programs. Develop an action plan with support and coaching from clinician Brijan M. Fellows, MSW, LCSW-C from University of Maryland.

Part 3: March 23, 2022 – 6:30pm-7:30pm

Review action plans developed in Part 2 and discuss barriers to implementation. Problem solve and talk about additional strategies with support and coaching from clinician Brijan M. Fellows, MSW, LCSW-C from University of Maryland.

Core of Knowledge Area for Parts 2 & 3: Professionalism (2 hours).

Each participant will need individual access to a computer, smartphone or tablet. Specific webinar access details will be sent prior to the training.
