Big Changes are Happening with Child Care Subsidy
Did you know that in August the Maryland State Department of Education substantially increased income limits for Maryland’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS) Program? This means many more families than ever before qualify for this benefit and can access quality child care and early education programs. For example, a family of four with an income of up to $71,525 can benefit from the state’s Child Care Subsidy Program. The previous income limit was just $35,702 for a family of four.
Decades of research confirm that a child’s future is profoundly influenced by what happens during the first five years. Children who have access to quality early learning opportunities that encourage both emotional and intellectual development fare far better than children without this strong start. As adults these children earn more, have better health, and have more stable relationships.
